Who We are
The Puntland Women Writers is an NGO based in Garowe, Puntland State of Somalia whose programs focus on developing and publishing women writers in Puntland and—more recently—in the Somalia regions. PWWA has likewise expanded its concerns to all over Somalia on issues regarding the environment, literacy, education, health, women’s rights and good governance. PWWA was founded in May of 2014 by Sahra Ahmed and is a Somalia-wide network of Somali women writers and women artists. It was officially launched in May of 2014. It has over 140 members from all over Somalia. It also had 4 regional well-functioning, highly equipped offices.
Empowering women to write
The association will aim to encourage women to write poems or essays on a chosen theme such as Somali women of courage which will be a collection of women’s stories, views, onions and experiences of the theme.
Awareness of Somali Cultural Heritage
Create general awareness of the importance of documentation, protection and conservation of Somali cultural heritage among people in Somalia, including Government officers

Publication of Women Writers
PWWA will play a critical and pivotal role both as an arts and culture organization, as well as a women's organization advocating for gender equity and social equality for both men and women.
